Who We Are
East Harlem Tenant Union (EHTU) is a democratic union of tenants who live in East Harlem.
Our first chapter, East 103rd Street Tenant Association, was founded in 2023 by a multiracial, multigenerational group of tenants who believe that collective power as renters is one of the strongest ways to fight against landlords, speculative developers, and gentrification.

We have organizing support from a local nonprofit, Community Voices Heard (CVH), and hope to decommodify housing through tenant-led community land trusts (CLT). Our CLT partner is East Harlem El Barrio Community Land Trust.
